9-12-2025 French Cabin Creek

Tent camping with Shelly and Jerry.  Got a late start and didn’t get in until the sun went behind the mountain.  The road after the bridge is still very rutted and very slow going.  Shelly found us a pretty good spot.  There were people out on the sandbar playing a Jurassic Park movie at a volume that could be heard the next mountain range over.

9-13-2025 

Drove out to Mineral Creek trailhead.  It’s probably possible to get near lake Kachess from here but we never figured out how.  A very nice drive out.  We should explore this area more. In the afternoon we watched two water bombers and a helicopter hauling a bucket make quite a number of runs from the fire the next ridge over to whatever alpine lake they were refilling from.  Interesting to watch.

There was a particularly brave chipmunk exploring our camp.  He’d come right up to you, wander under the chairs, up on the tables, in the garbage.  Cute little bugger.
