Milk run. Not that I expect anything interesting to have fallen off the camper, it’s always nice to make a quick run at the first of the season before any big camping trip. We will be going down the Oregon coast in a couple weeks for spring break and I would like to just make sure all is well with the camper. I de-winterized the camper last weekend. Part of the winterization was cutting the feed line from the water tank and shortening it to eliminate a kink in the main line. I pulled 10 gallons from the tank and no leaks.
The drive took 2 hours. Pretty heavy traffic through Ft. Lewis. It’s a lot less stressful now that I have a truck that doesn’t overheat when sitting in stop and go traffic.
We did manage to get away around Christmas. Lorena’s cousin Tracy’s husband has a brain cancer diagnosis and we drove down to visit and support and then we drove over to Lincoln City to spend the night. We got probably the worst hotel room I’ve ever seen. Dirty, poorly maintained, and expensive. It was right on the ocean though and almost made up for how bad it was. It was a refreshing change from the stress of work.
We’ve stopped in here at this park a few years ago and I don’t remember a thing about it. Seems like what you would expect from a State Park. The hook-up camping is fairly exposed and no privacy, the non-hookup is a little too close to your neighbors. Whatever. We have a somewhat secluded spot right behind the not-very-well marked ‘Frog Sanctuary”. They are quiet, actually, and not at all obnoxious.

The non-hookup loops are pretty expansive. A lot more sites here than I would have thought. The older loops have short, narrow, uneven pads. There’s a sign that says no trailers over 18 feet. Some site pads are too small for a modern pickup. There is a section to the south west that seems newer. The road is freshly paved, the sites are wide and reasonably long. Better spacing between sites too.
We walked by the lake. Small, but quiet and peaceful. There are a lot of hiking trails here and a number of geocaches. We liked this place well enough that we have booked another stay in September.
