A quick weekend trip to Elgin to see the in-laws and family. We booked a spot at the Hu-Na-Ha campground here in town. It’s a typical parking lot campground.
The new truck runs great! Well, I suppose it had better. It feels a lot more stable. Not having airbag suspension means less body roll, but a slightly less smooth ride. The truck feels more stiff than the old Ford. It has significantly more power. It’s also a lot more stable at speed. 70mph is no problem. That speed in the Ford felt dangerous. Fuel economy was about 10.5mpg. I really like having a 50 gallon fuel tank. Overall there’s a lot less to worry about with the new truck. This was a good choice.
We came over Tollgate. Still a lot of snow up on top, but the roads were bare. I put the truck in tow/haul mode and it powered over the pass like it was nothing.

Aside from no privacy and small pads I guess this place isn’t terrible. I think most of the people here are full time residents. It’s very quiet and I haven’t seen more than a couple of people. There’s a horse pasture behind us with deer, geese, ducks, and song birds. I wonder if it gets noisier or more crowded in the summer.
Backing the truck with the camper on is problematic at night. Visibility is very poor. I should have taken the 10,000 lumen reverse lights off the Ford’s bumper. I should be able to put some on the camper and tie into the new 7-pin connector I put on it.
