9-14-2024 Millersylvania State Park
We liked this place well enough at the beginning of the season to book it again at the end of the season. The place is mostly full. Quite a few kids, but to to bad with the noise. They lifted the burn ban today, but we didn’t bring any wood. Went for a long walk out in the forest. Lorena is always so content when we can get a bit further out.
I really didn’t have much time to plan things out or pack. Bottle of bourbon And some ground beef for Saturday dinner was as far as I got. I ended up making meatballs in brown gravy. Savory and warm to ward off the autumn chill. Served with a savory rice. I should have made some cheddar biscuits too.
We tent camped as French Cabin Creek a few weeks ago with Shelly. We drove way up to Fish Lake and found a lot of huckleberries. A thunderstorm rolled up the valley at night and made for a great sound and light show.
We have one more trip to Elgin and a trip to Grayland in early November, and that should wrap up the 2024 camping season. I wish there was more camping end of summer/fall, but things are so busy it’s hard to make time.
