9-14-2019 French Cabin Creek Road
Last time we camped in the meadow to the right of the bridge across the river. This time we drove down the road a bit in the upstream direction (north west i guess). The road is very rough. Lots of deep potholes. The truck and camper creaked and groaned quite a bit. Shelly was following and apparently it was leaning enough in spots that she was very nervous. We got the spot just the other side of the single lane Thorp Creek bridge. We walked down the road some time later to see what the terrain and camping is like. Lots of camping to be found down there. Seems to attract the noisy crowd though. It’s closer to the river, and the road noise from across the river is more apparent. Definitely something to keep in mind. Depending on time of year it could be quite nice.
There is a nice pair of waterfalls up the creek a short hike.

Raining. Rather a lot. Shelly and Jerry have been car camping instead of tenting. Seems a good choice in all this rain. They have a pretty good system. They laid the rear seats down and have a foam mattress that’s just the right size for the back. I didn’t think we would need the canopy, its a good thing Shelly brought hers.
I replaced the fan clutch a couple weeks ago. I can definitely hear a difference in the fan noise, but am not sure how much difference it made until I have the truck in stop and go traffic. Going over Tiger Mountain and Snoqualmie the temperature did get a little above halfway. It was cool and raining though. I will have to keep an eye on it still.
Teagan got sick on the ride home. We stopped at Tiger Summit to let him work things out and had about an hour to kill. I haven’t been there in about 25 years or so. There’s a new trail head, a better parking lot, bathrooms. It’s really busy when it’s nice out, so maybe we will need to go there when it’s cool and threatening to rain. Should be a great place to explore. I checked the oil since I didn’t have anything better to do and noticed that some rodent took the paper towel I keep tucked on top of the overflow bottle and made a cozy nest on the intake manifold. It had to have been last night or the night before. Found a nice warm place to take up residence. I probably scared the crap out of the little guy when I started the truck this afternoon.
