A quick weekend trip to see Lorena’s family. We are at the Hunaha (whatever) campground. We pulled in at about midnight. Took a little messing around to get level. Went to plug in and the 30 amp receptacle has been removed. Not a big deal I guess, annoying though. The 50 amp was present, but I left the 50 amp adapter at home. This morning I measured the cord and it’s just long enough to reach the pedestal of the empty site next door. These sites are way to close to each other.

Lorena and all the extended family wanted to go up Phillips Creek and picnic. There was some debate about the condition of the road this time of year and how well the truck would fare with the camper on it. Rather than take an unnecessary risk we loaded into a couple cars and went up without it. The road was fine and the truck could have made it without a problem. Ruts, some sharp rock fallen off the hill, but passable with care. It would have been nice to have the camper so the folks could warm up. We built a fire, but everything was very wet and it didn’t burn well. We looked for mushrooms but it’s perhaps a little early.
When we came over 204 late Friday the fog was very thick. I was down to 25mph at the top of the mountain for a considerable distance. The trucks headlights are a little far off the ground and didn’t help visibility at all. I’ve been wanting to put fog lights on the truck but have wondered when I would actually need them. I really wished I had them Friday. I should look into some of the less expensive aftermarket sets. It shouldn’t be difficult to find some that fit the factory bumper mounts. Maybe I should pull the cover off first and make sure the factory harness is present.
—-Addendum from home. Took over 8 hours to get home. The wind was very strong from Pendleton to Ellensburg. There were times fuel economy was 5mpg. Due to headwinds. Mystery stoppage at Cle Elum, construction at I90 and Hwy 18 with a 4 mile backup. We skipped that and went to issaquah instead. So of course there was construction just before Issaquah. Some rocket surgeon thought it would be a good idea to close 2 of the 3 lanes of the freeway for the weekend. Took and hour to drive less than 5 miles. Total trip mileage was 9mpg. That’s a record low. We got home right as the last of the light was fading. Guess I’m not taking the camper off tonight. Started in Elgin with a full tank, there’s an eight left. 44 gallons I guess.
