6-10-2023 Lake Easton State Park
We drive by this place all the time. We decided we should spend a weekend here and see how it is. I’m not convinced there is actual lake access. We walked down to the river below the dam, but the trail doesn’t go near the dam or lake. It’s close enough to the freeway that you definitely hear the road noise. It’s not overpowering, but it clear background noise. Sites are unpaved, mostly level, and no utilities in most of the campground. Lots of tent campers here at the moment. The tent pads are a good size. Some state parks have comically small pads, these must be 12’ x 10’. Fairly good privacy, and the sites are a reasonable distance apart.

The sites with utilities are about a mile down the road, that’s also where the lake access is. The day use is a little small, but has a nice beach. There’s a boat launch too. The lake is very cold. Teagan had plans to go swimming, but one toe in the water and he was no longer interested. The utility sites are a little close to each other. There is very little underbrush and privacy is only gained my pointing your windows away from everyone else. The freeway noise is a lot more noticeable too. This place should be a reasonable weekend getaway. Stay away from the utility sites, get a site closer to the river.
The camper is performing nicely. No worries about draining the battery, plenty of water. The storage tanks are much larger. I brought the Jackery. Used it to charge the iPad, and Josiah’s power bank, my phone, my watch. Only got it down to 80%.
