4-27-2024 Deception Pass State Park
A quick over night. Traffic was slow. Added 30 minutes. Forgot to get fuel before I put the camper on. It’s also the last week of the tulip festival. Between the flowers being real early this year and the rain this weekend traffic is better than it could have been.
The west beach parking is closed. Not sure why, but I did see the lake is very high. We should walk over there and see what that’s all about.
Walked to the beach. The parking lot is almost completely covered with driftwood and beach debris. Must have been some storm! Lorena and Josiah took a detour on the way back to camp and got into some Poison Oak. I carved off a part of the Lava soap bar I keep in the camper in case I get into some automotive grease and they washed their hands thoroughly. After some searching we found the small packets of anti-poison oak wash Lorena keeps in the camper for ‘just in case’. They washed down for several minutes and should be ok. Josiah got the worst of it. His hands are swelling. Lorena noticed right away that they were in the middle of a patch and held her hands up. Josiah didn’t know any better. We put their clothes in a plastic bag and will wash them with harsh soap when we get home. Mental note: I should build more storage in the bathroom for incidentals like that Lorena likes to keep packed. The anti-poison oak soap is a minor miracle of modern science
