9-10-17 Seal Rock - Collins
105 miles
Lorena likes to have a weekend outing and uses Teagan’s birthday as an excuse. She really doesn't need an excuse, whatever makes her happy. The plan was to stay at Seal Rock. We arrived last night a little after 8pm. It was rather dark and backing the camper around the site was challenging. It was really nice to be able to just park and be done. None of that setting up a tent in the dark nonsense. This morning Lorena wanted to go explore Collins Campground, so, why not? It's very primitive and large RVs and campers would find it very challenging make it around the campground. There is a creek that runs through here. Duckabush river, I think. Really a fantastic place. We called Shelly and they met us up here. She proclaimed it her new favorite campsite. No running water, only vault toilets, on a dirt road. Just the right setup to keep the noisy campers elsewhere.
We took a short drive further up the road to Murhut Falls. It's only 0.8 miles to the falls from the road, but its straight up the side of a mountain. The falls are spectacular. Well worth the hike.
The truck was a quart low on oil. About 1200 miles since the last time, it needed topped off. Using 15W40 is the trick. The truck and camper do well on dirt roads. Need to take it slow. The sensor for the black and grey water are not reading correctly. Something is gumming them up. I put an extra charge of whatever that chemical is in the toilet and a couple gallons of water. The drive back to town should slosh it around fairly well and hopefully clear up the black water. I think there is some cleaning agent I can put in the grey water too. I’ll look into that when I get back home.
