7–24-2022 Cape Disappointment
We will be camping here for the week. Mom and dad have a yurt and we are set up in their driveway. Power and water and plenty of space. Jenny and family are next door in a yurt. Shelly and Jerry will be here Wednesday. Matt and Misha will show up with the grandkids on Wednesday too. I guess Jazzmine and Jeff are going to be here on Friday.
It was 80 degrees and sunny all the way here. It turned to fog and wind when at the main drag through Longbeach. We put up the pop up’s and lit the gas fireplace we brought. I smoked a leg of lamb at home and heated it up for dinner. Very nice.

Sunny today. Very nice actually. Took a long walk on the beach north towards the tide pools and lighthouse. Lamb burgers for dinner. Lots of pain in my back and hips these days. Sucks getting old.

Major accomplishment today was a nap.

Went into town to pick up some sundry items. More firewood, ice for the drink cooler. Baked chicken in the Dutch oven. Matt and Misha came in a little after dinner. Shelly and Jerry showed up with fun games for the kids. There was a dead Stingray washed up on the beach a foot or so across.

Mom and dad will take Keltik into Astoria today so she can catch the bus back to Portland. Lorena saw a Stoat this morning. She even got a good picture. A rare find for us.

Shelly is having a great time being the cool aunt. Lots of games, long walks to cool places in the forest. Yesterday was capped with nerf tag. Jazzmine and Jeff showed up for a day visit with Camden. They didn’t think camping with a 7 month old would be very relaxing. I remember those days with Josiah and Teagan. It was a lot of work. Matt and Misha’s campsite is on the other side of the campground near the entrance. A bit too far away. We will need to coordinate a little better next year.
The truck is worry free. It’s nice to not wonder what’s going to fall off next. The camper has issues though. I pulled the J rail off the lower edge between the front and rear jack. It’s all rotten wood. I replaced the J rail with 3/8 inch thick 2 inch wide angle iron. I put 18 big screws in it and many of them are held in with hopes and dreams.
