David has been trying to get a camping weekend with us for some time. We were all set for a couple weekends ago and the turbo in his truck ate a seal a blew 7 quarts of oil through the intake. Took the dealer 9 weeks to get the parts. So we are out this weekend. We usually avoid the private campgrounds. Super expensive and too particular about the age of your rig.
This place is really expensive. It’s part of the 1000 Trails package that David buys so he got us a family pass. 10 bucks a night. It’s really muddy this time of year. Really big sites. Way bigger than I’ve ever seen actually. There’s over 300 sites too. All heavily wooded. I bet it’s a zoo in peak season. There is a big storm rolling in this weekend. It’s raining a lot and the wind is supposed to get over 45mph on Sunday.
I rode Josiahs bike to the office Saturday morning. 2 miles round trip and making me realize my age. My heart rate hit 170 and i felt rather sick. Lorena keeps talking about getting an electric bike. Won’t take much more of that to convince me.
This is our last scheduled trip in the camper this year. We have one more yurt trip planned in 3 weeks but we are officially done camping for the year.
There’s a big project and a small project I need to complete before spring. I want to replace the overhead vent with a Fantastic Fan or similar. The vent is already wired so it should be pretty easy. The hardest part will be pulling up the Eternabond tape. The big project may take some thinking. The front driver side tie down on the camper is pulling through. I think long term water damage from the water fill tube. It’s corrugated for some reason and I bet it’s not sealed at the inlet. Every corner with a full tank of water would dump a little water down the side. I’ll need to remove all the covers from the side wall, peel back the aluminum siding and see what’s underneath. It’s probably 10 times worse than I think. At least I have all winter to work on it.
