9-28-18 Penrose Point State Park
We were scheduled to go last week. Got everything and everyone packed up and the truck wouldn’t start. It turned over, but that’s all. I noticed the fuel pumps were silent, so that narrowed it down quite a bit. Both pumps were silent. Spent several hours looking over wiring diagrams and fuel system layout. Turns out the tank selector switch was bad. Not actually a difficult fix.
We got a late start this evening. Traffic was terrible through Tacoma, 6 accidents reported between us and the Narrows bridge. We didn’t leave till 7pm which put us in at 8:30. I really don’t like maneuvering into a camp site in the dark. I turned on all the exterior lights on the camper. Didn’t help at all.

This is the last weekend the upper loops are open. There are a lot of sites here. More than I thought there would be. Looks like if we wanted to come up in the summer, we would need to be careful with reservations. A lot of them are good for tents and cars, but leveling the camper would be difficult to impossible.
Spent the day doing nothing.

The evergreen huckleberries are thick on the bush. Lorena spent a lot of time gathering. Found some Shaggy Mane mushrooms.
I will always wonder about grandpa’s camping log entry about this park. We really enjoy it here.
