11-9-2019 Rainbow Falls State Park

I Have 1 more day off to use or loose so I took Veteran’s day. The boys have the day off school so we will camp.  Probably the last trip of the year.  

We stopped at a camper salvage yard in Centrailia to see if they had parts that will fit the water heater.  Lots of parts, none that fit what we have.  I’ll have to remember this place.  Might come in handy one of these times.  

The park is mostly empty.  There are a few partial hookup site and we got the last.  It’s getting pretty cold outside and it will be nice to run the electric heater.  There are lots of trees down.  The rangers have been busy felling.  Many blocking campsites.

11-10-2019

Walked the Wilapa trail, about 3 miles total.  My hips are very sore. Time to buy some hiking poles. Lots of apples still on the trees.  The boys filled their pockets. The water heater continues to have problems.  It wont stay lit.  Not enough gas pressure, or something.  Noticed the neighbor’s water heater doing the same as ours.  Curious.

I spent the day reading grandpa Doty’s first camping log book.  They spent a lot of time camping out in the coulees. Not a lot seems to have changed in camping.  Some places good, some bad, some clean, some dirty.  $2 a night for camping.  That has definitely changed.  $25 a night here off season.  

Made a fire about 4pm and kept it going till after 9:30.  A nice way to spend the evening.

Uneventful drive home.  Traffic through Tacoma is terrible regardless of time or day.  I will need to remember to take 512 instead of I5.  Emptied the water tank, opened the low side drains.  I suspect we are done camping till spring.
